Comentario del broker
In the same ownership for 23 years, this professionally built and finished Colvic Watson 29, offered for Sale by Boatshed Port Solent, has a really useful combination of qualities - a good enough and tough enough heavy-displacement sailing boat for passage making, yet a versatile and stable motor-sailor. Add in a deep (and massive!) safe cockpit and roomy wheelhouse, protected from the weather, and you have a genuinely go-almost-anywhere boat. The rig gives plenty of flexibility in a blow, in fact the owner has cut down the mainsail so she can carry it up to about Force 5 before she needs a reef.
Having photographed this yacht I can begin to understand why most of them are still sailing – strong looking, sturdy, and built like the proverbial brick outhouse, she inspires a fair amount of confidence. Such a strongly built seaboat ain’t going to win the Round the Island Race, but her long keel does allow her to perform under sail much better than many motor-sailors.
Down below she is very pleasing on the eye – light and airy but still retaining that snug safe feeling. The woodwork is in great condition, and the owner has added many little features (like the compass holder) that are well made and very useful.
The owner has a notebook into which he (and the previous owner) have written every detail of work and improvements done to the vessel over the years, and a full history of all the engine services. It can be inspected when you decide to come and see for yourself.
What we have here is a sturdy, roomy motor-sailor with a decent engine and plenty of scope for comfortable living. Come and have a look!
