Broker's Comments
This Duchess 29 is a rare boat as only 10 were ever made. These were a private boat venture using quality mouldings from Seamaster, believed to be the same as the Seamaster 820.
This particular boat has the benefit of being powered by twin Volvo Penta MD2002 18 hp diesel engines which offer amazing frugality and precise twin engine handling making her a great and easy to handle boat that won't break the bank.
She is very spacious and homely and very well presented and appears to be in very good order throughout. Her hull and topsides are in original gelcoat and she is a very fine and stylish craft to look at that will catch the eye with her smart lines.
Her spacious cockpit has a huge amount of hidden storage plus a large lazarette locker under the magnificent teak and holly wood floor. This floor comes up fully in sections to allow amazing access to the engines and services and is very well laid out.
Her helm is clear and clean with speed and depth systems and an old VHF radio (not tested) and she has a fully folding stainless radar arch and folding screen that allows her to clear 6 foot 9 inches, so is a very flexible cruiser indeed.
Her modern lines are very pleasing and her very recent grey canopy is well made and thought out with its design and fits beautifully. Moving forward to the main saloon you have a small but well equipped galley to port with gas cooker hob, oven and grill, work area and basin and ample storage. The good size fridge is tucked away under a saloon seat end and is easily accessible from the galley.
Her saloon converts to make a double and is a very convivial place to spend time with family and friends especially with the opposing settee seat which makes it very cosy. Her upholstery is unmarked to my eye and very comfortable. Her heads and shower is to starboard and is very clean and tidy and the toilet has a new pump and a diverter valve to holding tank or straight out.
The saloon forward bulkhead is ingenious. It is in three clip in panels that separate the forward cabin from the saloon if you wish . Or, you can unclip them and make a much more open layout which is a really nice touch and clever if you have guests aboard.
The forward cabin is a good size with ample storage, and is clean, dry and comfortable.
She has been fully serviced last 2022 for the current season and starts and runs very well indeed, has new batteries and battery charger, Webasto diesel warm air heating, and a fresh Boat Safety Certificate that runs to 22/3/2027.
She was antifouled March 2022 and has a recent survey available from 2020 that is very complimentary of the vessel.
This boat will exceed her new owners' expectations and is a rare and quite special little boat that I am sure will be a delight to own and operate on any river system.
