Photographing this boat brought back lots of fond memories, as I used to own a Hardy of a similar size to this one. Crawling over it reminded me of the marque’s virtues: confidence-inspiring solidity and excellent build quality. Some might describe her looks as a bit pedestrian, but others like the ‘little ship look’ in preference to the arguably more ostentatious lines of sports cruisers of a similar size. Understated practicality is the order of the day, here. Personally, I love it. Comparatively rare on the market, this example has been well looked after. She has been re-engined with a Penta D3- 160, driving a single prop via an out-drive leg. She is clean and tidy, with skylights and big windows all round to let in the light. Gas powered water and cabin heating will make for a comfortable living experience, and a smart canopy extends the living area into the cockpit. Her navigation equipment has been kept up to date with a recent Garmin chart-plotter and fish-finder. This is a civilised cruiser for a discerning boater.
