Broker's Comments
Originally built for the MOD in Bembridge as the Senior Officer's barge for HMS Ark Royal she had an illustrious career including carrying the Prince of Wales for the Spithead Jubilee Fleet Review in 1977.
On retiring from service in 1995 she remained ashore for 5 years undergoing a full refit including an engine overhaul (they were rebuilt in 1992) and is now fitted as a private motor yacht although she retains many of her original features and all the character of a Nelson.
Modernised sympathetically she has the required comforts of a liveaboard or for extended cruising including a holding tank fitted and hot water from both a calorifer and immersion heater. Although these boats are fairly narrow beamed for their length in comparison to more modern boats the space is used wisely with drop down storage and features like clever table design which allows it to be used above and below, for dining or as a chart table and it stows away when not needed.
Outboard the centre cockpit has a good quality enclosure which allows easy access but can be removed when the sun shines (or to show off the famous guests!)
This boat has a serious pedigree, masses of history, bags of character and is also a well equipped, well found motor cruiser. Viewing is highly recommended
