Broker's Comments

This fresh water Viking 40 convertible was designed by the in house design team at Viking Yachts by Bruce Wilson. Introduced at the New York Boat Show in 1973 with a production run of 10 years a very successful model with 270 hulls built. Jack Horner did a review of the Viking 40 Convertible in 2004 and described Viking as a successful pioneer in composite material boat building. Few problems are found with the hull and are usually related to improper damage repair and improper hardware instillation and thru hull fittings by former owners. The hull has a solid composite laminate bottom with cored hull sides and deck. This 40 has wide side decks and a large open fore-deck The aft cockpit is also wide open and approximately 100 sq ft for fishermen or entertaining, making for a great cruiser or fishing rig. The fly-bridge offers seating for as many as 6 including the skipper. The full surround icing glass is weather and the boat is shown without it. The bimini is in fair condition. This is a single stateroom version galley down. The main saloon is wide open with only a sofa that would serve as a second single berth. To starboard is the lower helm station. Below the Saloon is the engine compartment with twin 350 hp 454 CID Crusader gas engines burning 24 gallons per hour with an average speed of 22 mph. With a 300 gallon fuel capacity you can expect on average a range of close to 250 miles depending on conditions. Below the aft deck is the generator engine room with a 7.5 Kohler gas generator. The galley is a few steps down to starboard with electric stove, oven, microwave , fridge and double stainless sink. To port is the U-shaped dinette saloon that can accommodate 6 close friends. The saloon table slides in under main saloon deck. The head is forward of the galley/saloon to port and with a separate full stand-up shower. The owners stateroom is forward with good ventilation ample storage in the hanging locker for weekend cruises. This is a great opportunity to get into a fresh water 40’ convertible capably of family cruising or fishing for under $40,000
