Broker's Comments
This boat was originally built in 1948 for the private use of the owners of R Moore and Sons (Wroxham boat builders). In 1952-53 it was put into the hire fleet and due to the popularity of it another 6 more of its kind were built, but the workmanship and materials used on Moorhen 1 were far superior. Moorhen 1 then stayed with the hire fleet until 1967 after which she was put into private use and kept in the wet shed during the summer and the dry shed during the winter up until 1975. The current owner has now been the loving owner of Moorhen 1 since April 1991 having worked with her during his time as a boat builder for Moore’s boats. He is able to supply you with past history on other owners if requested.
Every care and attention is taken by the owner each year to ensure she keeps to her original self. Each year she is taken out of the water from October through to May and covered up, all floors and soft furnishings are removed to prevent weather damage. The bottom of the boat is Tar varnished every year. The hull is sanded down and lovingly varnished as well as the top decks, the hull is also sprayed internally with timber preservative every Spring. The engine and electrics are also serviced every year by a retired marine engineer. She is complete with a full Safety Scheme Certificate.
Meticulously cared fro throughout her life this boat really is in stunning order.
